WHAT HAPPENED????? I AM SO??? HAPPY??? WITH THIS VOLUME??? The last two volumes had been tragic disappointments, to the utmostest of utmost degrees. Kiss Him, Not me! was literally, LITERALLY, one of my FAVOURITE manga, okay? It was up there with the best of 'em, right? But then... volumes... 11 and 12... *shudder* That's when it all went downhill. That's when... (if you've read the synopsis of this volume

WHAT HAPPENED????? I AM SO??? HAPPY??? WITH THIS VOLUME??? The last two volumes had been tragic disappointments, to the utmostest of utmost degrees. Kiss Him, Not me! was literally, LITERALLY, one of my FAVOURITE manga, okay? It was up there with the best of 'em, right? But then... volumes... 11 and 12... *shudder* That's when it all went downhill. That's when... (if you've read the synopsis of this volume it isn't a spoiler but if you haven't it is) (view spoiler)[Kae finally made her decision! She chose Mutsumi-senpai! FUCK! (hide spoiler)] So that happened, and the series never went back up from there, not really. I was heartbroken. I had so very tragically lost one of my favourites….
Behold… The awful sight that is my current "Favourites" list on MyAnimeList… That's how serious it had gotten. I had actually axed it from the list. No Kiss Him, Not me! to be found.
And then… And yet… Here we have volume 13. It was… Amazing. I mean, "amazing," like, guilty pleasure type "amazing," you know how it is. It was exactly how I remembered it being in the good old days. It was the series that I fell in love with. I kid you not this volume had me SCREAMING and HITTING THINGS because of how hard I was laughing and because of how funny this shit is. It was beautiful. And you know what, I think I've already written at least one very similar sentence in reference to this series in the past. I was so scared that I'd never be able to again, and that I'd have to just trudge through these last two volumes in order to finish the series, but by god THE BITCH (this series) IS BACK.
I kinda want to revisit those "faulty" volumes again, because now I find myself wondering if it had not actually been the volumes' fault, but in fact mine? Could I have possibly been in some sort of rut that disconnected me with the story and sense of humour so that it no longer resonated with me? It's possible. I think I may have also been too against… the thing that happened, and that was also making me very bitter since it was very central to the plot. Since I have now had a couple months to digest it, I went into this volume with a much more open mind (and extremely low expectations) and it ended up working out beautifully.
I am somewhat timidly adding this series back to my favourites list, and I hold the 14th and final volume of this series with fearful yet excited hands.
Please consider giving this review a "Like" if you've made it this far, it helps me out a lot! And follow me if you want more!

Ok, I will admit a certain appreciation for the irony (girl super into BL freaks when she thinks her bf is making out with a boy), and you KNOW I adore Mutsumi (lovely dummy that he is), but this is so much drama! And sap! And then the end
Yeahhhhhhh, I gave up on this series awhile back, but I just remembered it the other day and thought...maybe it got good again??? Then Nina brought it to me today and said no, it didn't. But I still read it anyway, and...Nina was right! I should have listened!Ok, I will admit a certain appreciation for the irony (girl super into BL freaks when she thinks her bf is making out with a boy), and you KNOW I adore Mutsumi (lovely dummy that he is), but this is so much drama! And sap! And then the end is so completely over the top mushy it made me squirm a bit.
Anyway, I still think this should have just ended like three volumes ago. I'll probably read the next one though, just in case it's finally the end and...you know...maybe it gets good again NOW???

Despite Kae pissing me off, there were some great aspects to this volume! I love how the rejected crew kind of pulls together in support of the relationship. It was such a cute friendship thing. I also liked how this turned the usual trope on its head a bit, with the Yashiro sideplot. After all the focus on Kae throughout the series, it was fun to see someone else getting a bit of relationship love. I also liked that we got some more perspective from the other characters. So, certainly a worthy addition to the series, despite Kae being dumb.

I gotta say, this volume, though a bit ridiculous, is pretty spot on when it comes to otaku dating. I've had the same issues where my love for a character has made others uncomfortable or feel like they don't matter as much to me. It's a difficult balance.

Serinuma is slipping back into her otaku ways with a single offer of a ticket. It drives a slow moving wedge between her and Mutsumi-senpai until it all explodes thanks to Yashiro-senpai... who's in love with Mutsumi-senpai.I gotta say, this volume, though a bit ridiculous, is pretty spot on when it comes to otaku dating. I liked that Ah-Chan is used as a voice of reason. Her advice really shouldn't have been necessary though as the logic was too obvious.
Everything resolves pretty well. Now I guess 14 will be the complete wrap. Like I said, I'm really curious if Igarashi's blonde love interest returns, or if she is gone for good. It
I didn't mind the rival story here as much as the previous one with Kae. Maybe because this one wasn't fantastical (no helicopters swooping in with BBs and falling off of cliff-faces).I liked that Ah-Chan is used as a voice of reason. I'm happy that Kae and Mitsumi finally made up, but I can't help but feel like this story arc dragged a little. I do think that it's important for Kae to understand the difference between a fictional character, and a real human, I just think it didn't have to happen in quite this manner, especially with her getting a sudden love rival. And that last chapter was a little weird....

Also, I'm so glad that despite having their first and pretty serious fight, that Mutsumi-senpai and Kae-chan managed to stay a couple.
